Our family farm has been in our family over 100 years. I am the 5th generation on the farm. My husband, children and I live in an old log cabin that was built from logs that I had moved here. There was a lot of work that went into restoring that cabin and I hope to one day add on to it with some additional logs out of a cabin that we took down last year.
My dad has raised cows here as long as I can remember. He has charolais cattle, sheep and miniature donkeys. The sheep and donkeys came later but are so much a part of the farm now. Of course we have chickens, what would a farm be without fresh eggs and a rooster crowing every morning? My son is the keeper of them and has a true passion for taking care of animals. I’m so thankful my children had the opportunity to grow up on a farm. There are so many life lessons here. They learned there are both the good times and some heart aches (like when my daughter lost her horse), how to be responsible for something else besides yourself and how amazingly sweet a baby lamb and a baby miniature donkey are.
Thanks for joining us on this journey. I hope you’ll visit often.
