My family and I live in an old log cabin here on my family farm. No this picture is not of our home. Ha Ha Ha. However, this is a cabin that my husband, my dad and I took down last year. We will be using the logs out of this cabin to add to our existing log cabin. This is all a future project. It’s part of who we are. My husband has taken down several tobacco barns and cabins over the years. This cabin in the picture was standing about 15 miles from our home here in North Carolina. It is over 100 years old. Some of the logs were in great shape and some were not. Sometimes you just don’t know what you’re going to get with these old homes, especially if the logs are covered up with siding. The last interior wall that I uncovered showed signs of termite damage. A little disappointing but to be expected. After all these logs are over 100 years old. I’m just glad we were able to save this cabin. Once they are gone a part of our history has disappeared.
